Bygones (Babbacombe,Torquay)

A truly nostalgic experience awaits you as you explore the past. Immerse yourself in the  bustle of Victorian life, journey through life during the war, take in the colourful fashion of the fifties, challenge your friends in the Bygones Vintage Amusement arcade and explore the story of the railway.

Royal Albert Memorial Museum & Art Gallery (Exeter)

This world-class museum is free to enter and close to Exeter Central train station, making it easy to visit by train.   It features an array of stunning displays and interesting exhibitions from all over the world including exotic animals, birds and insects. Regular events are held for families and children.

Torquay’s Dinosaur World

Come to this indoor venue in Torquay harbourside and see these amazing creatures come to life.  With interactive displays, scale models and life-sized beasties all on show, including a full size T-Rex skull, this is the perfect destination for for dinosaur fans of all ages. But be warned – there’s an awful lot of teeth!

Active Kids (and big kids!) Activities

IBounce (Newton Abbot and Exeter) 

Wonderful indoor attraction that is great fun for all the family, iBounce trampoline centres are in Newton Abbot and Exeter. Open all year round, it’s an indoor activity that provides enjoyment come rain or shine. Prospective bouncers can launch themselves onto a giant airbag, enjoy the activity & stunt zones and play light chaser games.


Quay Climbing Centre (Exeter)

Featuring the South West’s largest indoor climbing wall, the Quay Climbing Centre makes use of the huge atrium space built into one of Exeter’s largest and iconic industrial buildings – formerly the city’s electricity works. Don’t worry though, if you’ve never climbed before and want to have a go,  friendly instructors will show you the ropes and have you scaling the walls in no time!

Plan an Escape

A relatively new holiday activity which you will find plenty of places to participate in Devon are Escape Rooms.  The nearest rooms to Welcome Family are Mission Escape in Exeter and Devon Escape in Newton Abbot.  Each room has a different theme – one of the popular rooms in Newton Abbot is Death on Dartmoor. Families and friends take part in teams of 2 – 8 players to solve puzzles and problems against the clock… Will you get locked in?
