Discover Sensational Golf near the South Devon Coast

A holiday in Dawlish Warren on the South Devon coast isn’t just for beach lovers. That’s because in addition to all the usual seaside facilities, Dawlish Warren is also well placed for some spectacular golf.  From championship courses, to links courses – even a course designed by the famous Alister McKenzie, head to South Devon and you’re in for a treat if you want to enjoy some golf-packed fun on your break.

Let me tell you more…

Why play golf by the sea?

Whether you want to pack in as much golf as possible or just enjoy a few rounds during your holiday, South Devon can cater for you. If you’re used to playing inland courses, you’ll discover there’s something pretty special about playing by the sea.

All that fresh sea air can do wonders for your health. It’s a great way to unwind and “blow away the cobwebs.” Imagine how you will feel enjoying your favourite pastime in a brand new environment. Imagine inhaling all that salty air, the delight at spotting some wildlife, or marvelling at the truly stunning views as you drive a blinder or putt under par.

What’s more, when you’re surrounded by stunning natural scenery, it’s just so much easier to relax. This is especially true if you’re escaping the hustle and bustle of the city or the stresses of everyday work life.

Discover challenging tees for all levels of ability – right on your holiday doorstep

South Devon golf offers you a real challenge. Regardless of your skill or handicap, you’ll find that the golf courses near Dawlish Warren will test your game.

Here’s a quick overview of the three courses that are closest to Welcome Family Holiday Park. Which one do you fancy teeing off at?

The Warren Golf Club

The Warren Golf Club is the nearest course to Welcome Family.

Built on a spit of land right in the mouth of the Exe Estuary, this stunning 18-hole links course is surrounded by water on three sides. Located inside the Devon Wildlife Trust Nature Reserve, you’ll discover plenty of nature to enjoy whilst you make your way around the holes. The course structure varies with its proximity to the water. You’ll discover fairways of dune land turf near the sea and lusher grass on the estuary side. In addition, the natural vegetation adds to the complexity and challenge of the course with small copses, banks of heather, natural ditches, and even the occasional pond adding interest to the course layout.

As well as soaking up over 100 years of history, the club’s exquisite setting and sensational views over the Exe Estuary will ensure you have a fabulous game – and visitors are welcome.

Teignmouth Golf Club

Teignmouth Golf Club is situated 800ft above sea level. At this height, the sea views and vistas over the nearby moorland are just beautiful. One of the factors that make Teignmouth Golf Club so special is the fact that Alister MacKenzie designed it. MacKenzie was a British golf course architect who’s famous for designing some of the world’s best courses including Augusta National Golf Course in the States. As a result, Teignmouth’s 18-holes has plenty to challenge golfers. For example, there are 11 two-tier greens (one of MacKenzie’s trademark features) as well as six differing par 3s.

Visitors are welcome. Plus, you can also hone your game with the range of practice facilities, which include a putting green, nets, and a restricted driving range.

Woodbury Park

Incorporating an 18-hole Championship Course, at Woodbury Park holidaymakers can soak up the views and enjoy a challenging game. The course is set in stunning parkland with plenty to keep your eyes occupied in between shots. You’ll discover lakes, mature trees and rolling fairways. You could even spot a deer – if you’re lucky!

This course also welcomes visitors and in addition to a fantastic round of golf, you can also take advantage of the practice facilities. These include an 18-bay driving range where you can practice your drive whilst soaking up panoramic views over the Exe Estuary.
