Even More Amazing Adventures in Devon for Animal Lovers

Animal lovers are spoilt for choice in Devon. Furry, fluffy, scaly and wriggly – you really won’t know where to start! And there are numerous ways to get up close and personal with your favourites.

Following on from our recent article on Devon animal adventures, here are yet more animal escapades to enjoy within easy reach of our Dawlish Warren Holiday Park.

Spot Rare Animals in Devon!

Some of the rarest animals in the world live in the lovely woodland garden at Shaldon Zoo. Their conservation programme helps to keep these endangered creatures alive.

Make friends with the ring-tailed lemurs and squirrel monkeys or meet the marmosets. Meerkat Mountain is home to a cheeky family group. This bouncy bunch of show-offs is sure to keep you on your toes!

There are talks at feeding time and you can even be a keeper for the day – a great way to help the keepers and learn all about these amazing creatures.

Meet Penguins and Play with Otters

You’ll find mammals, birds and breathtaking marine life at Living Coasts Zoo and Aquarium. Penguin Beach is a must; these cute fellows are always up to something and you can help at feeding time. Then head over to see the otters. This playful bunch loves their food, and showing off for their young fans!

In the aquarium, you’ll find seahorses, stingrays and octopus, while the aviary is home to 300 beautiful birds, including puffins, waders and guillemots.

Feeding the Goats and Something Wriggly!

Becky Falls Woodland Park has 50 acres of incredible creatures. Say hello to the cutest rabbits, chipmunks and polecats in the petting area, before spending time with the goats at lunchtime.

If you’re brave enough, check out the snakes and lizards, plus there’s a great collection of creepy crawlies! There are loads of chances to meet the animals – furry, wriggly, and scaly. And, if you’ve any time left you really should see the stunning Becky Falls waterfall.

Lovable Llamas and Creepy Crocs

Ever fancied getting close to a crocodile? At Crealy Adventure Park you can do just that, at Croc Creek.  There are plenty of cuddly animals as well, from llamas and donkeys to inquisitive emus and bouncing wallabies. You can even look after your own pony for a day.

If creepy crawlies are more your thing, don’t miss the Bugz Unlimited Show – be prepared to help with a few wrigglies. You’ll certainly get your hands dirty!

There are also brilliant rides and indoor attractions at this huge theme park. You certainly won’t be bored.

Crazy Parrots and Friendly Emus

The Farm Zoo at Woodlands Theme Park has so many animals! From hens and piglets to baby alpacas and a shire horse. There’s also a huge aviary where the chatty parrots never stop talking.

For a rare chance to see night-time creatures, visit the Nocturnal House. Here you’ll meet long-eared hedgehogs and racoons, plus our famous Super Glider Family.

There are lots of ways to meet the animals. Activities change daily so check the info board for details when you arrive.

Cheer on the Racing Pigs

Join your Activity Farmer when you arrive at Pennywell Farm. Together, you’ll meet the animals, enjoy the shows and cheer on the miniature pigs in the afternoon race.

There’s a different activity every half hour, from milking the goats to bottle-feeding the lambs or pampering the ponies – and all for the price of one admission ticket!

Don’t forget to say hello to Fusilier. This lovely shire horse is so gentle and loves meeting new friends.
