Explore the neighborhood

There are so many beautiful walks from Dawlish Warren that you won’t know where to start. Fortunately, the town council has made a handy guide to local walks to point you in the right direction.

Why not start with Dawlish itself? The Dawlish Town Trail is perfect for exploring this quaint, old place. It’s been around for centuries, so there are lots of fascinating things to discover. The guide covers the town and nearby points of interest, such as the National Nature Reserve and the Exe Estuary.

When you’re ready to venture further afield, there are plenty of walks to get everyone’s tails wagging. The coastal footpath to Teignmouth offers a wonderful variety—rolling fields, picturesque woodland, and, of course, glorious sea views.

Dog-Friendly Attractions

Babbacombe Model Village is well worth a visit, and dogs are allowed everywhere except for the café (though there is an outdoor terrace for refreshments) and 4D theater.

While you are in Babbacombe, you could also go for a ride on the Babbacombe Cliff Railway or go to Bygones, an indoor Victorian museum, so even if it’s cold and wet outside, there are indoor places to visit that are dog-friendly.

Ferry Trips

Stuart Line Cruises offers day trips to the Jurassic Coast and Torbay from Exmouth; in summer, you can catch a passenger ferry across the River Exe from Starcross to Exmouth. Starcross is approximately 25 minute’s walk from Welcome.

Train Trips

South Devon Railway is a little further afield, with steam trains that run along the stunning valley of the River Dart, between Buckfastleigh and Totnes. While you are in Totnes, you could also visit Totnes Castle, a classic Norman motte, and Bailey Castle. Remember, you can always catch a train from Dawlish Warren train station to Totnes if you prefer not to travel by car.

Historic Castles

You can always visit Powerham Castle or Berry Pomeroy Castle; both are dog-friendly and places of fascinating historical significance.

Welcome Family’s exceptional holiday park is perfect for dog holidays and just the place for the whole family to enjoy. Book online or call 03451 656265.
