Pennywell Farm
There are plenty of indoor areas to see farm favourites at Pennywell Farm in Buckfastleigh, as well as shire horses, miniature pigs, ponies and donkeys to visit in the outdoor stables and pens. And youโll find a host of farm-related activities to keep busy feet occupied. An animals loverโs paradise, online booking in advance is essential.
Paignton Zoo
You donโt have to be outside to see many of the weird and wonderful creatures atย Paignton Zoo, and weโre not just talking snakes and creepy-crawlies! Besides all manner of furry beasts, there are also play areas and activities. Even if you brave the rain, shelter is never more than a few seconds away.
House of Marbles
Be amazed and amused at the House of Marbles. Lots of wonderful sights to behold for all ages. You can shop at House of Marbles for quality toys, games and gifts, as well as homeware, stationery and confectionary. Lunch, breakfast and afternoon tea are served in their fully licensed eatery, The Old Pottery.
Kents Cavern
Kents Cavern in Torquay is an extensive labyrinth of caverns with spectacular natural formations, which were widely used by prehistoric people. Led by entertaining guides, this all-weather attraction provides illuminating tours of the cavern. They hold regular events, including Ghost Tours.
Crealy Theme Park
With over 100 acres of fun and attractions, Crealy Family Theme Park provides the perfect family-value day out, whatever the weather. Motor Museum
Automotive enthusiasts are in for a treat! The Moretonhampstead Motor Museum is situated within Dartmoor National Park and houses a collection of over 150 vintage and classic vehicles including cars, motor cycles and light commercials from pre-1920 to 1990s, as well as automobilia.
Powderham Castle
The nature trails might not be what you want on a rainy day, but there are guided castle tours to enjoy and Powderham Castle welcomes dogs on leads. With 600 years of history within its walls, it is sure to delight and fascinate.
Retail Therapy
Of course, holidays arenโt just for the younger ones! If you feel like some retail therapy, Paignton, Torquay, and Exeter have all the big-name shops you need, plus their own unique ones, which sell local produce and regional rarities.
Whatโs more, these regional cities offer plenty of sightseeing interest too. Be it Exeter Cathedral, or the underground passages, Paigntonโs traditional pier (with arcades), or the famous Torquay Riviera, South Devon has no shortage of places to wander about in. Strategic planning not required!
