The South West Coastal Path
Situated on the South West Coast Path, Dawlish Warren has a wealth of opportunities for walking right on our doorstep.
Walk along the Coast Path to Dawlish and Teignmouth
Amble along the marked trails through the nature conservation area, an internationally important site for the protection of birds, insects and plants, or take a 2 – mile stroll along to Dawlish. Here you’ll see our famous black swans swimming in the brook which runs right the way through the centre of town, cascading over a series of waterfalls on its way to the sea. If you feel energetic, carry on to Teignmouth along the sea wall.
Walk the South West Coast Path along the Exe Estuary
Head off in the opposite direction and you’ll see the delightful Cofton harbour with some lovely waterside inns. The path then takes you along the Exe Estuary and past Starcross. Here you could pick up a ferry to Exmouth or perhaps continue your walk along the South West Coast Path to the magnificent Powderham Castle. You might even be lucky enough to see seals and possibly dolphins on the way!
If you are feeling really energetic, you can walk all the way to Exeter on the South West Coast Path. However, it’s about 10 miles so you would probably like to catch a bus or train back to Dawlish Warren!
Circular walk via the sea wall
